Window 2003 Terminal Server licensing

This process is not required for normal connect CAL's. The process is only for Terminal

Server CAL's.



To activate the Server (not the TS CAL):

• Go to https://activate.microsoft.com/

• Select "Activate a license server"

• Enter the standard media key # (Terminal Server media key- Your Product ID can be found by selecting Activate Server in the Terminal Server Licensing administration tool).

• Microsoft will send you (the user) an e-mail with two numbers:

1. 35 character PIN number

2. 20 character Product ID number



To activate the Terminal Server CAL please have available:

• Select Enrollment number or Open license authorization number

• License Server ID # (obtained during the process below).

• On the Terminal Server just activated:



1. Select Programs/Administrative Tools/Terminal Services Licensing

2. Select View/Properties

3. Under the Connection Method tab you will have 4 options: Internet,

4. World Wide Web, Fax, or Telephone.

5. Select Telephone (this is not a modem connection)

6. Select Country

7. Under the Licensing Program tab select "Select"

8. Complete the info on the Company Info & Address tabs

9. Click “OK”

10. Select Action/Install Licenses

11. Click “Next”



You should see the following:

• Customer Service Center phone number (888-571-2048)

• Your License Server ID # (35 characters)

• 7 boxes to enter the Client License Key Pack ID



Please call MS Customer Service Center. You will be asked for:

• License Server ID # (from the screen mentioned above)

• Select Enrollment number or Open Authorization number

• MS Customer Service Center will then provide:

• Client License Key Pack # (35 characters)

• Click Next

• Click Finish
